1 Thessalonians 2:8 says,
When We Meet
EKG (Encountering the Kingdom of God) meets every Friday from 5:30pm-9:30pm in the youth hall of First UMC Homestead. EKG has activities that take place all year long (Skyzone, Color Wars etc) so be sure to get connected to our EKG social media sites to stay informed!
What We Do
EKG is our weekly youth group gathering. We share fellowship, worship, small group and mission activities. EKG also has time for community building through icebreaker games and activities.
- During the gathering and fellowship time we can play various games (i.e. video games, basketball, ping pong) or just hang out with friends.
- After the fellowship, there is a time to worship as a community and to learn together from God’s word.
- The small group time provides an opportunity to talk more deeply with our peers about our lives and create lasting connections that help us follow Jesus more closely. Discussing how to live out the Bible lesson in practical terms is an important aspect of the group time.
How We Serve
The youth who are involved with EKG have many opportunities to serve the community of Homestead and our larger community. Here are just a few of the ways EKG is or has been involved in service:
- Children's Church Volunteers
- Vacation Bible School Volunteer
- Food Pantry Volunteer
- Student leadership (teaching at EKG, leading Worship)
- Local Mission Projects
- Domestic Mission Projects (UM Children’s home, Disaster Relief Missions)
- Mission Projects abroad (Bahama Methodist Habitat)
